Using cake mixes are the most convenient and delicious way to make a cake with little effort. 

A cake made with a cake mix always seems to come out just perfect that’s moist and oh so delectable.

This recipe for a magical pumpkin pecan pie dump cake is such a delicious cake and it really does taste like pumpkin pie in a cake form.

I call this a magical cake not only for the way it tastes so yummy but also for the way it bakes up. A  layer of cake that’s just like pumpkin pie and then the other layer of cake with a crunchy and sweet topping.

This magical pumpkin pecan dump cake is great for any season especially autumn and holiday time.

But, it surely does not have to be any holiday to enjoy this wonderful cake. Bake on up anytime you are craving a pumpkin pie or a pecan pie, or both! 

It’s such an easy recipe that sometimes I make it during the week when I want to surprise my family with a special dessert that was a snap to make.

They love it and I love how easy the cake was to prepare.

 Magical Pumpkin Pecan Pie Dump Cake

Yields: 12 to 16

What’s in a magical pumpkin pecan pie dump cake…


Ingredients: 

  • 15 ounce can pumpkin puree, NOT pumpkin pie filling
  • 12 ounce can evaporated milk, NOT sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 medium to large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 – 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  •  1  tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 box yellow or white cake mix
  • 1 cup butter melted and cooled a little
  • 3/4 cup pecans, chopped or broken up into large pieces

 

How is this magical pumpkin pecan pie dump cake made?


Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees, spray a 9 X 13 inch baking pan with cooking spray, use a glass baking pan if you have on hand.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients except cake mix, butter, and pecans. Use a whisk to mix well. (It’s going to be a very runny batter)
  3. Pour mixture into baking pan.
  4. Sprinkle dry cake mix over entire pumpkin mixture.
  5. Toss pecans gently over top.
  6. Drizzle melted butter over pecans.
  7. Bake for about 55 to 65 minutes. May still be slightly loose in the middle. Cake will set up as it’s cooling. Let cool at least 35 minutes then slice up! Note: Any leftovers must be kept in fridge, up to 3 days.

Enjoy with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream or some whipped cream!
