Best Slow Cooker Brisket 

This is a seriously the best slow cooker brisket recipe. Everyone who has had this absolutely loves the way it comes out with the most delicious gravy and a really tender brisket. After you make this recipe, you’ll know what I’m talking about.

 

This recipe has been handed down from my mom Ruthie many, many years ago when she got her first crock pot back in the eighties.

She was so excited to start using her brand new crock pot and made some delicious new meals in it. 

Then, one day she came up with this recipe. We loved this brisket so much! 

Now, my sister, niece and I all make this recipe. Even my daughter has made this recently for a few of her friends and boyfriend.

Years later after I got married, my mom and dad came over almost every Friday night.

They lived in Queens, New York and we lived out on Long Island.

I loved when she would take over my kitchen.

She would say, Pammy , please leave and go relax. I’m here and it’s my kitchen for the evening. 

These memories, I will never forget. Some of my most precious ones with my parents.

We all follow the directions carefully, and this brisket is the best! 

Everyone who has sunk their teeth into this brisket absolutely loves it.

The recipe is very easy to prepare using the handy dandy slow cooker and the ingredients are some you probably have in your pantry and fridge.

So here it goes…get ready for deliciousness!

 

Best Slow Cooker Brisket 

Yields: 4 to 5 servings

 

Here’s what you’ll need to make the best slow cooker brisket…

 

Here they are!

  • 3  pound brisket
  • 8 ounce can tomato sauce
  • 1 onion, minced or grated
  • 1 1/4 cups beef stock, I used low sodium store bought
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes
  • 1/8 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons onion powder
  • 1/4 cup red wine or more beef stock
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric, optional
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoons olive oil
  • season with sea or kosher salt when cooking is complete. Only if needed

 

How is this best slow cooker brisket is made…

Here’s the easy-peasy directions…

  1. I line my slow cooker with Reynolds slow cooker liners for easy cleanup. 
  2. Sprinkle the olive oil on the bottom of the slow cooker. With clean fingers, spread it around. Then, place the whole brisket on top. 
  3. In a medium to large bowl, add the rest of the ingredients. Use a whisk or fork to combine. Pour the sauce mixture over the brisket. 
  4. Place the lid on and cook on high for about 4 to 5 hours or on low for 6 to 8 hours. Check after the lowest hour to see if the brisket is tender. If not, put back on and cook until it is nice and tender. 
  5. Before you take out the brisket, if you see some excess fat floating on top, skim that off. Taste to see if you need to add any salt. If you do, season now and stir to mix into the sauce. You can add additional ground pepper to taste at this time if you feel it needs it. Take out when finished and slice up. I sliced mine pretty thin but, my sister slices hers thicker. Both ways are delicious. After the brisket is sliced. Place on a large serving platter and spoon the sauce all over the sliced brisket. Serve up and enjoy! Great with roasted potatoes, mashed potatoes, or noodles.  

      Recipe note: The color of the sauce will depend on the red wine and tomato sauce. Sometimes it looks more on the red side and sometimes not at all like the brisket in the picture. Amounts could change the color but the taste is delicious all the time. Also, the recipe is very forging, you can add a little bit more of one ingredient and use less of another. Make it your own by experimenting with the recipe..
