Rustic Apple Pie with Cinnamon Oat Crumble Topping

Everyone loves this rustic apple pie with cinnamon oat crumble topping recipe. It’s out of this world delicious. Bake one up and taste the freshness. It’s apple deliciousness!

I made this apple pie with my son Josh.

We go apple picking every year at this time at a local orchard where they had a nice variety of apples to “pick” from.

This recipe has now become a family tradition that we have been making a few years now.

Each time we make it just a little different from the time before.  You can use whatever apples are your favorites. Just a note, the two apples I found that did not work well for apple pie were, Red Delicious and McIntosh.

I mixed them up a bit and the taste was fabulous.

Check out the ingredients for the apples I used this time around.

The reason why I called this a rustic pie is because we kind of threw things together and didn’t care if it looked messy. That was the whole point and it still came out looking beautiful.

We also decided to use a ready made graham cracker crust since we all like the way graham crackers go so well with the apple pie filling. The ready made was just by choice to save some time and for convenience.

Use whatever kind of crust you like. The frozen pie crusts are nice and convenient like the ready made graham cracker ones.

The star of this pie however in my opinion is the crumb topping. It’s beyond delicious. And, I’m not the only one to say so. It’s a huge hit with family and friends.

Have fun in the kitchen with your family. Make your own traditions and your own spin on this delicious apple pie recipe.

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl, combine all filling ingredients and toss gently to coat all the apples.
  3. Toss into prepared pie shell, set aside for just a few minutes.
  4. In a medium bowl, toss all topping ingredients.
  5. Crumble topping over entire pie.
  6. Place pie on a foil lined cookie sheet and bake for about 30 to 40 minutes. Check after 30 minutes with a skewer or fork that the apples are tender.
