Colored Sugar and Coconut

I think we all have purchased colored sugars from the market and craft stores. They are these tiny little bottles that can run up to 4 dollars. It didn’t make sense to me. We purchased a box of food dyes which can be used many times and we saved money and had fun doing this project. You can see Victoria, Regina’s daughter show how easy it is to color sugar and coconut. With all the holidays, you will never be without a nice sugar or coconut to top a recipe. Have fun!

Colored Sugar and Coconut

  • Granulated sugar
  • Flaked coconut, sweetened or plain
  • Food coloring, found at most markets

  1. Place any amount of sugar or coconut (separately) in a bowl and add a few drops of any food coloring.
  2. Mix with a spoon or cover hands with gloves (food colors stain hands) and mix until all is evenly colored.
  3. Add more if you want the color deeper. Viola! You're done!
