How to Remove Garlic Smell from Your Hands after Chopping

garlic fix
Garlic has a very potent smell. It’s wonderful for cooking but after, when it’s on your hands. Not so much. Here are a few ways to remove the smell. Hopefully one or all will work for you.

  1. Stainless Steel. May people swear by this old trick. After you are finished chopping the garlic, rinse your hands off in cool water. Then rub your fingers over something made of stainless steel. Like your kitchen faucet or a spoon. Then wash your hands with warm soapy water.
  2. Try baking soda and salt. Mix the two and rub into your hands and fingers. Then wash with warm soapy water.
  3. Lemon and salt method, Rub your hands together with a little salt and a cut lemon. Be careful with this method. If you have any cuts on your hands or fingers, ouch! Then wash with warm soapy water.
  4. Coffee has such a strong aroma, take a handful of ground coffee either instant or regular, wet your hands and give yourself a nice hand treatment at the same time. Then, you know the drill, wash with warm soapy water.
  5. One more way that may work, taking toothpaste or mouthwash and rub between your hands. Then rinse with warm water.
