Dark Chocolate Halloween Clusters

 You can’t beat a good piece of dark chocolate. Especially when it’s loaded with crunchy nuts, chewy dried fruit and crispy rice cereal. These gems pack a punch of flavors and textures in one little bite. Make up a batch of these dark chocolate Halloween clusters and savor every bite. 

 

 

It’s that time of year again, all the candy is out in the stores waiting for everyone to buy for Halloween.

Well, here’s a quick and easy recipe with healthy ingredients and it’s just as yummy.

Have a couple. They’re guilt free, healthy and scrumptious.

Dark Chocolate Halloween Clusters

Ingredients:

This is such a simple and easy recipe with only a handful of ingredients that make the most delicious and healthy way to enjoy dark chocolate. Even on Halloween!

Well since these are called dark chocolate clusters, the first ingredient is the star of these clusters, dark chocolate. A couple of my favorite dark chocolate chips are Choc Zero ChocZero  & Lily’sLily’s Sweets  They are work great for melting and baking as well as being totally delicious. Or, I like to use any brand of dark chocolate chips with 60 percent or more cacao. Even Hershey has a great sugar free chocolate chip sold in many grocery stores. 

I highlighted where to get them online but, I’ve seen them in more and more stores lately. Even Walmart is starting to carry Lily’s Sweets Chips.

Of course you can always use your favorite brand of dark chocolate.

There’s lots of great varieties in stores and online.

Now, on to the add-ins…

My favorite part of a chocolate cluster. 

You can use any of your favorite kind of nuts. You’ll see in the printable recipe box what kind I used in this recipe.

On to the dried fruit and cereal. Again, use your favorite kind of cereal or maybe even two kinds of cereal.

The more you put in these clusters the more texture you will have in each bite.

As for the dried fruit. Dried cranberries, blueberries, cherries, and even dried apricots add a lovely bright color and you know, apricots are orange in color so, they’d be great for a Halloween treat. 

I happen to love using currants. If you are not familiar with currants, they are simply the smallest kind of raisin that’s dried naturally which comes from the smallest grape.

They are found with the other varieties of raisins in most grocery stores.

Currants are usually black in color, however there are some currants that may even be pink in color. But, the most common are the black currants. They are so sweet and delicious. Great for snacking too. 

I think they give the biggest bang for the calorie buck so to speak.

To make these clusters extra special and fun for Halloween, and to add a fun finish to each cluster, there’s the sprinkles  Also found online. You can click to see the ones I used. But, look in craft stores and even grocery stores, this time of year they put more Halloween sprinkles out on display. You can also find holiday sprinkles at Target and Walmart.

  Directions:

Line a large cookie sheet with parchment or wax paper. Place in fridge until ready to use.

In a large microwave safe bowl, pour chips into bowl, saving about 1/8 cup. Melt on high for 20 second increments. Take out, stir with rubber spatula and put back in for another 20 seconds. Do this until chocolate is melted and shiny. Try not to heat too high or the chocolate will seize.

Stir in the 1/8 cup of remaining chips. Stir until all the chocolate is completely melted and again, shiny.

Toss the rest of the ingredients in and stir gently.

Take cookie sheet out of fridge, with a mini cookie scoop or two teaspoons drop mini clusters onto sheet.

When all are done, place back in fridge for 10 minutes or until completely set. Take out, let sit at room temperature for 5 minutes. Recipe note; Store these in a sealed container in fridge for up to 4 days.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups dark chocolate chips, I used Lily's Sweets, these chips are all natural and sweetened with stevia, they are delicious!
  • 1/4 cup chopped pistachios
  • 1/4 cup brown rice crispy cereal, you can use Rice Krispies if you cant find brown rice cereal.
  • 1/4 cup currants or dried cranberries
  • Colored sprinkles for decoration

Instructions
