We are big applesauce people around my house.

Sometimes I make this to have with our dinner meal and the leftovers for snacks.

I buy the little snack sizes to send with my son for lunch or snack at school.

My husband likes them as well for a snack.

I like applesauce in plain Greek yogurt. Sounds strange? Give it a try, it’s really delicious and a good way to naturally sweeten up plain yogurt. To me it tastes like frozen apple yogurt.

Since we recently went apple picking, I decided to make my own homemade applesauce and add a little pizzazz to the batch.

This recipe was a  huge hit.

I bought little food containers and my family loves this much more than the store bought ones.

♥️♥️♥️

Homemade applesauce makes ordinary recipes taste so much better…

Actually, this wonderful batch of applesauce makes just about anything taste so much better.

Love on my plain Greek yogurt in the morning.

On top of being the easiest recipe…

By using my handy-dandy slow cooker, it’s a breeze to make and the house smells so incredible while the apples are cooking away.

Each time I make this, we all love to eat the applesauce hot from the Crock Pot then, after it’s refrigerated it’s just as delicious.

Make a batch today. You don’t have to go apple picking to make this. Go to your market and pick up your favorite sweeter apples.

Recipe note, I only add a small amount of brown sugar, or date sugar to each batch. The sweeter the apples, the less amount of sugar needs to be added.

What’s in this slow cooker cinnamon applesauce recipe…

Ingredients:

  • 8 assorted apples, I used Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, Rome, and Gala
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon or orange juice
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp apple pie spice, or pumpkin pie spice
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar or date sugar works great in applesauce too. You can leave out the sugar completely if you want or add more for a sweeter applesauce.
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

This is a small slow cooker I found at my grocery store. Great for a recipe like this.

How is slow cooker cinnamon applesauce made…

Directions:

  1. Wash apples, dry, take off peel and cut into small pieces/chunks.
  2. Drizzle lemon or orange juice over the apples and toss around with a large spoon.
  3. Add cinnamon and spices along with sugar if using, add vanilla extract into water and pour over apples. Toss with a large spoon.
  4. Dump apples into crock pot. Turn on high for about 4 hours. You can turn on low and cook about 8 hours. Check after 3 hours. This will depend on how small you cut the apples up. Open up cover after 2 hours to mix.
  5. When done, if the apples are still chunky, you can either mash a little with a fork or cook a bit longer. We liked it a bit chunky.
  6. Eat the first batch from the crock pot, it’s so delicious over ice cream or just by itself for dessert. Then, place in covered glass container. Keeps for at least one week in fridge.

Enjoy the apple deliciousness!
